Bashanov vs Hannig

Bashanov meets German knockout artist Hannig in Struer

By

Adam Bashanov (1-1) meets German knockout artist Nick Hannig (2-0, 2 KOs) in a six-round super middleweight contest at the Struer Energi Park in Denmark.

The 24 year-old Dane will be eager to get back to winning ways having dropped a majority decision to Sweden’s Hampus Henriksson in Stockholm last year.

The hometown fighter faces tough opposition from the big punching Hannig from Berlin, whose one punch knockout of Ondrej Schwarz at the World Boxing Super Series in Berlin went viral.

“Nick is a top opponent with a good amateur pedigree,” said Bashanov. “He is very strong and a big puncher as we saw in his last fight.

“He knocked the guy out before they even touched gloves! That was not pretty. No sportsmanship there. He is obviously not a gentleman.”

Bashanov, who is looking forward to fighting in his hometown of Struer, says he has been training hard and insists he is ready for the challenge that lies ahead.

“I will be prepared for this fight,” he says. “We will make a plan A, B and C for this fight and I'm sure if I follow the instructions from my corner, I will win.

“Struer is my hometown. I started my boxing career here and I have a lot of good memories from that time. Most of my friends are from Struer and I’m really looking forward to putting on a good show for them. I know they will be there cheering me on to victory.”

Dina Thorslund challenges Alicia Ashley for the WBC Female World Super Bantamweight title on March 10 at the Struer Energi Park. Dennis Ceylan begins his road to redemption against Jesus Sanchez on the undercard while rising Danish stars Mikkel Nielsen, Frederik Hede Jensen, Adam Bashanov, Kem Ljungquist and Haris Dzindo return to action.
