Daniel Dubois vs Tom Little - Will 'DDD' be tested?

This coming weekend at London's O2 Arena we will see the eight professional outing of Daniel 'Dynamite' Dubois, Dubois has made a positive start to the professional ranks, picking up the WBC Youth and Southern Area heavyweight titles. Having only gone a total of 12 rounds in his first 7 fights, opponent, Tom Little is seen as a step up for Dubois and potentially someone who can take him past three rounds, somewhere Dubois has not yet been. Add this to the fact that Little has been rather vocal during the build-up, calling Dubois  ‘Baby Bruno’ amongst other barbs, had led to an intriguing build up.

But all hype aside it’s pertinent to note that Little has lost five of his fifteen fights and been stopped twice before, once by Tom Dallas in a Prizefighter event 6 years ago and once by Croatian prospect Filip Hrgovic in January of this year. Of Little’s 10 wins, only 2 have been against opponents with a winning record and one was a 2 fight novice. Put all this together with Dubois’ punching power and the result of this fight seems set in stone already.

As powerful as Dubois is, he can be quite stiff and is very green. So Little’s apparent game plan to get on the move and take him late does hold credence, especially when taking into the consideration Dubois' musclebound physique. In Dubois’ last fight, his opponent DL Jones continuously frustrated him by dipping low, charging in with his head and holding. Dubois smothered his work somewhat and looked out of ideas at times before ending the fight in the third round with Jones backed up on the ropes. The pick here is for Little to box to a similar tune, moving and frustrating Dubois in the early going. If Little has genuine aspirations of winning the fight though he needs to land punches. This is where Dubois can look to land his own bombs and take Little out before the halfway mark to become the new English Heavyweight Champion.
