what Eddie Hearn had to say on the Whyte matter

By Bryan Connolly

With the reports of Dillian Whyte, reportedly failing a sample test before last weekends fight over Oscar Rivas, IFLTV caught up with Eddie Hearn who had this to say about the situation. "Some of the article is true and some is untrue. Both fighters were tested during camp, during the fight and fight night by VADA and UKAD. Dillian, paid for the VADA, $40000 which he does for ALL his fights. Both of these bodies and the BBBoC agreed the fight could go ahead. There was a hearing before the fight and Dillian was asked questions by an independent panel, via UKAD rules to provide information regarding an issue they had. Dillian was cleared by that panel to fight Rivas. BBBoC rules was approved and Dillian was cleared. A process was done, a hearing was given and Whyte was cleared. Eddie Hearn wasnt on the panel or had any control of the panel. I wasnt even there. The evidence was taken and all reports was presented. And Dillian was cleared to fight. We put as much stuff in place to prevent fighters from cheating. It costs us a fortune on VADA testing. $100000s a year on VADA testing. We encourage it in every fight. I have heard, Matchroom are seeking an injunction to stop the news, thats 1 million per cent BULLSHIT! BULLSHIT! We did what we was required to do. If the panel and UKAD felt he shouldnt be allowed to fight then he wouldnt fight. You know my view on fighters failing drug tests. I thoroughly believe, if you are intending to cheat to gain an advantage you should be banned for life. The lengths between a Jarrell Miller and this incident is different worlds. Hear the facts before making a judgement."
