Joe Joyce Moves to 3-0

The Olympic Silver Medalist Made Light Work Of Donnie Palmer

Olympic Silver Medalist, Joe Joyce moved very swiftly to 3-0 stopping Donnie Palmer in just a mere 35 seconds of the opening round. Joyce began well enough, working his way around the massive reach advantage his opponent had over him. He was mixing his jab well to head and body.

A one-two which caught Palmer high on the head was enough to drop him. Although he did rise to his feet, he did so on heavy legs. The referee in charge seeing fit to stop the contest before anyone got seriously hurt.

The bout was scheduled for eight rounds, but 'The Juggernaut' proved his power was simply too great.

It's fair to say we learned nothing from Joyce's third professional outing, and the jury is still firmly out on him. There is the talk of a Dereck Chisora fight. But my personal opinion is that Chisora is far too wily and experienced a competitor for Joyce to be mixing with so soon in his professional career.

He is part of a fairly competitive and budding domestic scene. His amateur skills should be able to carry him so far, and I would be interested to see how he fairs against fellow heavyweights like Nathan Gorman or Daniel Dubois before I can make a firm assessment on how far he could go.

But at 32 years old time is certainly ticking.
