Linares and Lomachenko formally agree to fight

Long-standing Rivalry between the two fighters

By

We are but a few months into the year 2018 and we have already seen so many fights both fought and made of the highest calibre. But hold on to your hats ladies and gentleman because 2018 is a gift that keeps on giving....

WBC, WBA & Ring Magazine World Lightweight champion, Jorge Linares (44-3, 27KO) and two weight World champion and pound for pound elect, Vasyl Lomachenko (10-1, 8KO) are believed to have formally agreed to fight.

This is really a breakthrough given the long-standing rivalry between Top Rank (Lomachenko's promoter) and Golden Boy Promotions (Linares promotional team).

The fight will see Lomachenko bidding to win a title at a third weight in just his twelfth professional outing. His last of course causing Guillermo Rigondeaux to quit on his stool at the end of the sixth round. Linares has already been seen in a ring this year, besting Mercito Gesta by unanimous decision in January of this year.

The bout was agreed by both promotional companies after EPSN agreed to push forward the start time of the bout to 8 pm EST. This was done so that the bout would not clash with the highly anticipated rematch between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin, which is due to air on HBO two hours later.

Ladies and gentleman, what a night of boxing that will be!!
