Mikey Garcia To Matchroom USA?

Garcia's Brother/Trainer Claims Hearn Has Made TWO Offers For The Pound For Pound Star.

News of Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing with fledgling streaming service, DZN sent shockwaves through the boxing world last week. Just in case you need reminding the deal will see Hearn handed $1 billion over an 8-year period to put on 16 cards on in the USA every year. The deal will also see US viewers able to view the 24 cards Hearn is contracted to put on in the UK in his deal with Sky Sports. This deal means that Hearn has access to more cash than Showtime or HBO. Hearn made his intentions perfectly clear in that he was looking to build be the world's most premier boxing stable, and I'm sure this has captured many a professional boxer's attention ....

It certainly looks as though he has set his sights on his first BIG acquisition.

IntuBoxing has learned that Eddie Hearn has made not one, but TWO offers to pound for pound elect and four-weight world champion, Mikey Garcia. Garcia was last seen in a boxing ring in San Antonio in March, taking the IBF - super-lightweight title away from Sergey Lipinets. Garcia will attempt to unify his WBC Lightweight title (he vacated the title won against Lipinets) with that of IBF champion, Robert Easter Jr in Los Angeles on June 28th. Hearns motive seems simple, doesn't it? Rumblings amongst the boxing media suggest that Vasyl Lomachenko is very serious about wanting to fight Garcia, AND with Hearn's pockets now VERY deep. One can only imagine Hearn will do everything in his power to host that fight on HIS platform.

But, it seems as though a third offer will need to be made. Garcia's brother and trainer, Robert suggested that whilst it was 'one helluva offer' that it was LESS than what Garcia will earn in his next fight. Smoke and mirrors? Who knows. What we do know is that Zuffa Boxing, backed by Dana White and his equal to or more than deep pockets are also looking to make Garcia their inaugural signing.

One thing is for sure. Garcia seems like the hottest free agent in the world of boxing.
